Swedish massage at Elvara Spa costs AED 650 for 60 minutes and AED 850 for 90 minutes. It takes place in a private room on the ground floor of Royal M Hotel by Gewan in Al Bateen, and we are open every day from 11:00 to 01:00. On your first visit, a 60 minute Swedish massage comes with 15 extra minutes at no charge.

What Swedish massage is

This is the classic European massage most people picture when they think of a spa. The therapist works with long gliding strokes, kneading, gentle friction and light tapping, using warm oil. Pressure is medium by default and can go lighter or firmer on request. The goal is simple: loosen tight muscles, get blood moving and let your nervous system settle.

Who it suits

Swedish massage is the safest choice if you have never had a professional massage, or if you have not had one in a while. It works well after a long working week, after a flight, or when you sleep badly because you cannot switch off. If you want work on a specific knot in your back or shoulders, look at our deep tissue massage instead. If you want something slower and more flowing, Balinese massage is a close relative with stretching and acupressure added.

What happens during the session

You arrive a few minutes early, tell the therapist about any areas to focus on or avoid, and change in a private room. The massage usually starts on the back, moves to the legs and arms, and finishes with the neck and shoulders. You can ask for more or less pressure at any point.

60 or 90 minutes

Sixty minutes covers the full body at a comfortable pace. Ninety minutes gives the therapist time to return to tense areas without rushing, which many guests prefer for the back and neck. If you are not sure, start with 60 and see how your body responds. All durations are listed on our price page.
