Balinese massage at Elvara Spa costs AED 650 for 60 minutes and AED 850 for 90 minutes. It combines acupressure, long flowing strokes and gentle stretching, and it is done in a private room at Royal M Hotel by Gewan in Al Bateen, open daily until 01:00.

Where the technique comes from

The style comes from Bali, where massage has long been part of everyday care rather than an occasional treat. It mixes three things: pressure on specific points, long movements with warm oil, and slow stretches of the arms, legs and back. The result feels both relaxing and slightly energising, which is why some guests book it in the afternoon rather than in the evening.

How it feels

Expect more variety than in a Swedish massage. There are moments of firm thumb pressure along the back, followed by long sweeping strokes, and then a stretch that opens the shoulders or hips. It should never hurt. If a point feels too sharp, say so and the therapist will ease off.

Who it suits

People who sit at a desk all day often like Balinese massage because the stretches reach the hips and upper back. It also suits guests who find Swedish massage pleasant but a little too gentle. If you want the flowing part without the acupressure, try Lomi Lomi. If you are new to massage, Swedish is the easier starting point.

60 or 90 minutes

An hour is enough for the full body. Ninety minutes adds more stretching and lets the therapist spend longer on the back and legs. Prices for every duration are on our price page.

FAQ

How much is a Balinese massage?

AED 650 for 60 minutes and AED 850 for 90 minutes.

Is Balinese massage the same as Thai massage?

No. Thai massage is done clothed on a mat with a lot of stretching. Balinese is an oil massage on a table with some stretching added. We do not offer Thai massage.

Does Balinese massage hurt?

It should not. Acupressure points can feel intense for a second, and the therapist adjusts pressure on request.

Is it good for stiffness from sitting?

Many guests book it for that reason, since the stretches open the hips, shoulders and upper back.

What should I wear?

We provide disposable underwear and towels. You only need to bring yourself.
