Balinese massage is a full body oil massage from Bali that combines three techniques: pressure on specific points, long flowing strokes, and gentle stretching. It feels relaxing and slightly energising at the same time. At Elvara Spa, a Balinese massage costs AED 650 for 60 minutes and AED 850 for 90.
Acupressure uses the thumbs and palms on specific points along the back, legs and feet. Long strokes with warm oil connect the areas and keep the massage smooth. Stretching gently opens the shoulders, arms, hips and legs. The therapist moves between the three throughout the session.
More varied than a Swedish massage. You might feel firm thumb pressure along the spine, then sweeping strokes, then a slow stretch through the shoulder. Pressure points can feel intense for a second but should not hurt.
They are often confused. Thai massage is done on a mat, usually clothed, with a lot of stretching and very little oil. Balinese is done on a massage table with oil, and the stretches are gentler and fewer. We offer Balinese, not Thai.
People who sit for long hours often like it because the stretches reach the hips and upper back. It also suits guests who find Swedish massage pleasant but a little too gentle. If you want flowing strokes without the pressure points, try Lomi Lomi. For an overview of all options, see types of massage.
Relaxation, and stiffness from sitting, thanks to the stretches and pressure points.

No. Thai is on a mat with lots of stretching. Balinese is an oil massage on a table.
