In an aromatherapy massage, a few drops of essential oil are blended into the massage oil, and the scent becomes part of the experience. Different oils are chosen for different moods: calming, refreshing or uplifting. At Elvara Spa, an aromatherapy massage costs AED 700 for 60 minutes and AED 800 for 90.
| Oil | Scent | Usually chosen for |
|---|---|---|
| Lavender | Floral, soft | Calm, winding down, sleep |
| Eucalyptus | Fresh, cooling | Clearing the head |
| Peppermint | Sharp, cool | Feeling awake |
| Citrus (orange, bergamot) | Bright, sweet | Lifting the mood |
| Ylang ylang | Rich, floral | Relaxation |
| Cedarwood, sandalwood | Woody, warm | A calmer evening |
These are traditional uses and personal preferences rather than medical effects. The best oil is the one you enjoy smelling for an hour.
Think about how you want to feel when you leave. If you want to sleep well, go for lavender or a woody blend. If you are heading back to work, choose citrus or eucalyptus. Your therapist can let you smell two or three options before starting.
Tell us about allergies, asthma, sensitive skin, headaches triggered by smells, or pregnancy before the session. Essential oils are always diluted, but some people react to specific plants. You can also ask for an unscented oil.
The aromatherapy part is about scent. The massage itself is gentle, close to Swedish. If you want aromatherapy combined with stronger techniques, our Elvara Signature Massage blends it with Swedish and Balinese work. All treatments are on the massage menu.
