Massage for Back Pain in Abu Dhabi
If your back, neck or shoulders feel stiff from long hours at a desk, driving or training, a focused massage can help relax tight muscles and make movement feel easier. At Elvara Spa, the usual choices are a 30 minute back and shoulder massage for AED 400 or a deep tissue massage from AED 700. We are at Royal M Hotel by Gewan in Al Bateen, open daily until 01:00.
Desk neck and tight shoulders
Most of the back tension we see comes from posture: the head pushed forward toward a screen, shoulders rounded, hours in a chair or a car. The muscles of the upper back and neck work all day, and by evening they feel locked. This kind of everyday stiffness is what massage is good for.
Which massage to book
| Back and shoulder | Deep tissue | |
|---|---|---|
| Length | 30 min | 60 or 90 min |
| Price | AED 400 | AED 700 / AED 900 |
| Covers | Upper back, shoulders, neck | Whole back, plus legs and arms if needed |
| Pressure | Medium to firm | Firm, slow |
| Best for | Desk neck, a lunch break | Stubborn knots, stiffness across the back |
The back and shoulder massage puts all 30 minutes where the tension is. A deep tissue massage gives the therapist time for the whole back, and 90 minutes is worth it if your lower back and legs also feel tight. If you prefer lighter pressure, a Swedish massage is gentler.
What to tell the therapist
Be specific about where it hurts, how long it has been going on, and what makes it worse. Mention past injuries, surgery, pregnancy or blood thinners. This decides how firm the therapist works and which areas they avoid. Our article massage for back pain: what helps covers this in more detail, including simple habits between sessions.
When to see a doctor instead
Massage relaxes muscles. It does not treat injuries or medical conditions. See a doctor first if you have pain after a fall or accident, pain that shoots down an arm or leg, numbness or weakness, pain with fever, or pain that wakes you at night. If tension often comes with headaches, see our guide on massage for headaches.
